- Version of Plex you are using: 1.13.8.5395-10d48da0d
- Version of DSM you are using: DSM 6.2.1-23824
- NAS Model number: DS718+
Previously had a DS214 Play, updated the DSM and things have gone south. I’ve now purchased a DS718+ for better transcoding.
When using 214play and original DSM (before update) the Plex Media Server ran from my 214 NAS. All apps (TVs, Apple TVs, Mac) could connect to it and there we’re no issues.
After move to new DS718+, and update to latest DSM, PlexMS will not find my NAS drive and movie files etc. unless I have a PlexMS installed and running on my MacbookPro (2015 running Mojave).
I have started from scratch removed all apps, and media server. Re-installed PlexMS on my NAS, and ‘apps’ on aforementioned, but PlexMS on NAS won’t locate my libraries on NAS unless a Plex MS is installed and running on my Mac - It’s like the downloaded Plex Media Server on the NAS is actually a ‘client’ connecting to my MacBook Plex Media Server.
Surely the Plex Media Server installed and running on NAS running should find my files on the NAS before and without the Media Server being on Mac? As the Mac (and all other devices) are just ‘client’ or Apps. That’s the configuration I want anyway.
It’s bending my brain - What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
