Media Server Stopped Working

Hi! My plex has been running on my main desktop computer and streaming to my TV/Laptop/Mobile PERFECTLY with ZERO issues for YEARS. But the other day it RANDOMLY and SUDDENLY gives me an error “plex cannot claim server please install manually”

so I would go to the “update” and there would be a build # that’s the same as the one I have installed. So

  • I went to plex website, and downloaded new file and re-installed. Still didn’t work.

  • uninstalled, rebooted, then re-installed, then rebooted, then still doesn’t work.

  • Found a plex forum page where everyone was thanking the individual for posting it, seemed like same issue I had, I went and deleted some registries for PLEX

  • The only thing that changed is now the server when I click open it just stuck at stuck http://127.0.0.1:32400/myplex/launch?X and then has a token # which I assume I shouldn’t share lol.

can someone please tell me what to do!? my family is visiting for the summer and my mom is old and bored and she just wants to watch her stories on TV with subtitles since she doesn’t speak English. Plex is perfect since it also allows subtitles for anything.

halp!

Considering you Uninstalled Plex media server, I’m going to check if you uninstalled it correctly. This below is the correct way and must be done this way.

After Uninstalling, install the latest Version for your OS
