THANK YOU! that did the trick…
I have been reading forums and wikis with no fix to my problem.
I have deleted all the plugin and directories and restarted as many have suggested. I have also repaired permissions. I am including my log file so hopefully someone can help me out.
Any help would be appreciated

Based on that log, it looks like the backend python stuff isn’t actually starting up. For instance, the PMS can’t find the com.plexapp.system “plugin”, which is a core, essential piece. In the past, I’ve seen behavior like that when there’s a problem with the Python installation on the computer (incompatible version, being installed in an unusual location, etc.).
I believe you are right. I tried playing around with my python setup and finally said screw it and reinstalled OSX. Works perfect now. Thanks for the help
sorry to bring up an old thread, but i’m having in the same problem. i have a black macbook and replaced the optical drive with a hdd. my home folder is on the new hdd and all the above solutions have been tried. nothing has worked. has this hard drive set up been verified as a problem? if so, any solution? thanks
I have the same issue but cannot find the Users/(username)/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server folder.
I only get the following:Users/(username)/No library folder/ or Macintosh HD/ Library/ Application Support/ but there is no Plex folder within Application Support
Ok I found the folder now and deleted the Framework Bundle as suggest. restarted the Plex Media Server and got the following crash message again without the application starting
;

So long as your Home directory is legitimately set to reside on the second disc, I don't see what the issue is. Basically, the Plex Media Server is going to look for "/Users/[youruser]/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/". If that path is accessible then it should be fine. If you're doing something unusual, then you could use a [symlink](http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=2001110610290643) to point from that location to wherever it is you actually want the data to reside.
Can you please zip up and attach the full .crash log file for that application crash? It should be found either under "~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/" or "~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/".
Thanks for the assistance, here are the logs
All the crash reports in the zip you uploaded are for the "CleanApp" application - they're not related to the Plex Media Server.
Hi there,
I cannot find any Plex media server in the application support folder.
I am runnig the OS Lion
Thank you
Apple made the wonderful (i.e. really dumb) decision to hide the user library by default in Lion. [See here](http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20082044-263/os-x-lion-where-did-my-library-go/) for how to access it.
Thank you
How do I find the framework and system bundles? I’ve been told to go in ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/PlexMediaServer but in my Application Support folder there is no Plex Media Server folder. I’ve even tried searching my mac for the files, but no luck
I can access the Library fine, but there is no Plex Media Server folder to find the framework and system bundles
This morning I caught only a fleeting glance at a Growl notification saying something about “Plex Media Server,” “Restart Needed,” and, I ***think, ***“critical update.”
So I quit and relaunched PMS, and then its menu bar item stayed stuck on “Starting” with the spinning cogwheel.
I could bring it up in my Roku client, and all of my Channels were there, but ***some ***of them (I could discern no pattern — it was both regular and “unsupported” channels) gave an error message, *“An error occurred while trying to load this content, make sure the server is running,” *and then that channel would — poof! — disappear from my list of channels. (In the past, exited channels would move to the beginning of the list.)
I could still do an “About Plex Media Server” in my menu bar while it said “Starting” (“Quit” was the only other one not grayed-out), and it still said it was Version 0.9.3.4-397e914.
Then I found this thread and *Jam’s procedure in post #1 fixed everything. (And all of my channels that had disappeared returned.)
***I mention all this only because some were saying that they had no idea what triggered the problem in the first place, so maybe my description of what I saw in my first paragraph above will be helpful.
Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard
Plex Media Server Version 0.9.3.4-397e914
I am having the same problem with the Plex Media Server “starting”.
I can access the Library fine, but there is no Plex Media Server folder to find the framework and system bundles.
For those folks who don’t see a “Plex Media Server” directory, that almost certainly indicates that you’re looking in your system Library and not your user Library. Apple hides the user Library by default with OS X 10.7 Lion. See this info for ways to access it.
