Unfortunately i got the same problem. Could you please help me out?
Anyone…Please…?
It resolved by it self…
I have this issue… the server never gets as far as the first config screen (I did do an upgrade but due to this issue, I did a complete uninstall and reinstall) - I have attached a log that hopefully would give some clues as lack of PLEX is causing me much headache…
Thankyou in advance

I had this problem a few months ago and followed the instructions to resolve it. The problem I have now is that I cannot get Plex to scrape the movie/TV show information any more. TV shows come in as Episode 1, 2, 3, etc… with no artwork or descriptions. Movies are just named according to file names. How can I fix this?
I hope what I did will help others.
I was stuck on “Starting” and nothing was working. Deleting the Framework and System files did not help. Here’s what I did and I am currently populating the information in my running copy of Plex Media Server 0.9.7.10.382
- Delete the PLEX MEDIA SERVER folder in your Library/Application Support and the Plex Media Server Application in the Applications Folder
- Empty the trash
- Download the latest version of PLEX MEDIA SERVER (no need to open it, just download it)
- Restart your computer in Safe Mode (ala the Shift key AFTER the tone and UNTIL the grey Apple Logo)
- Once in safe mode, locate the PLEX MEDIA SERVER you downloaded in STEP 3 and open it.
- Drag the icon into the Applications Folder
- Launch Plex Media Server.
At this point, it should have the “Starting” pinwheel and then stop, leaving just the Plex Logo.
SIDE NOTE - I set Plex to be a Login Item under “Accounts” in the System Preferences
- At this point, Restart you computer.
- If you did the “Side Note” listed above, Plex should launch, if not, Launch PLEX.
- At this point, PLEX should load and then be ready to go. You will need to direct it to your folders and files.
I hope this helps! It worked for me and I hope it works for you!
If it works, post your success here so others looking for a solution will find this. If not? God Bless you. I understand your frustration!
u2hanks, thank you for your help! By following your steps I got my streaming working again after almost loosing faith in Plex! I’m using 0.9.7.11.
Some extra information about my problem:
I don’t know when the problem appeared, maybe during some update to a new version. I tried upgrading from 0.9.7.10 to 0.9.7.11. And then tried to downgrade to 0.9.7.7 but that didn’t help either. Most of my 720p mkv content failed and I could only play some random movies.
I'm glad it helped!
Ok this is extremely frustrating.
This is what i get when try to run Plex for the first time.
I tried deleting the framework.bundle file, but didn’t help.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
A.
Installed Plex Server and worked for three days only. Now clicking the icon does not open it. Nothings shows up in the menu bar. Deleted the application and folders from Application support, and installed again. Still not opening the server. I have 0.9.7.17 and Mac OS 10.8.2.
Please help, if possible give the steps.
Im on OSX 10.8.3 updated PMS and PMC 2 days ago to try and use the plexpass I have subscribed too and cannot get it to work at all since.
I have tried removing the files and restarting etc. is there any way of wiping it all and starting again fully.
I do not mind adding my files again
Please help
Thanks
I am experiencing this issue as well. I have followed these instructions and installed again. The only difference is that after fully removing PMS the Plex/Web tab shows in my browser window and asks me to accept the EULA. It then just sits there on the "Please wait a moment while Plex starts" screen.
If I skip the getting started bit I can add a directory to Plex, however it never is indexed and no clients can connect to it.
Mac OS 10.6.8
Software update shows me as fully updated.
Processor : 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory : 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

You can fully uninstall using this guide: http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/PlexNine_Tips_and_Tricks#Mac_OS_X_2
Thanks for the pointers.
I have followed this guide a few times and am having the same result of it hanging on the 'starting'
is there any other way of wiping iy more thoroughly?
Thanks

I believe you and I are in the same boat. Just waiting for a reply for more advice. I tried the chat and they told me to post here as I had already exhausted their troubleshooting.
I have been trying to install the latest version of Plex Media Server onto MAC 10.8.3. for the past two days, and it is still stuck in Starting Mode.
are we getting ripped off guys?
pay for plex pass, have to do an upgrade and wont work. then no support from plex! I have emailed them too with no reply.
I know subscription is not a lot but this is poor service.
I assume you guys have tried removing System.bundle and Framework.bundle while PMS was closed down.
Have you guys tried removing PMS and installing the latest official one? Not the latest for Plexpass members, the latest for everyone I mean.
If you have tried that already, can you try and install a few old ones to see where it stops working for you guys?

I have never used the Plexpass version as I am not a Plexpass member. I had 0.9.7.12 installed and the problem started after a reboot. I fully removed and replaced with 0.9.7.17 and the problem continues. I have installed 0.9.7.11, 0.9.6.6, and 0.9.5.0 (removing all files associated between each version) and they all experience the same problem.
I don't think that I installed any updates before the reboot where the problem started, but I cannot say for certain.
