I have done all of the previous suggestions...no help either. I choose to buy a Mac rather than a PC because they where more friendly and stable. Thats the least thing i can say here for PLEX (Mac edition)!!!
ITS TIME FOR PLEX TO STEP UP ITS GAME HERE! I PAY FOR A PLEX PASS TO SUPPORT THEM, AND I EXPECT A WORKING PRODUCT FOR ANYTHING I PAY FOR! I AM OBVIOUSLY NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THIS ISSUE!
HEY PLEX, HOW ABOUT AN OFFICIAL AWNSER ON WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO FIX THIS!
Well I solved the issue on my computer. First i removed the two plugin files (System.bundle & Framework.bundle), than removed the PMS app to the trash.....redownloaded, and reinstalled.....and its working as it should [for now anyways].

I spoke with one of the devs and they are aware of the issue. Odd thing is that 99% of the time they analyse the set of "bad" bundle files and they check out byte for byte. However, many people do see that deleting the files, or even the entire plugins folder contents fixes the problem. I'm sorry it seems like they're not interested but they have and continue to investigate this issue. In your case, can I suggest that you:
- quit the server
- navigate to the plugins folder
- delete the entire contents. This will mean you have to reinstall any channels you have installed
- try starting the server
If you still can't start the server, please post your plex media server.log file
I am having a similar problem. I used Plex several years ago on an old iMac and wanted to load it on to my new iMac. After downloading the Media Server it is 'stuck' on Starting (for more than a week now). I assume it should only take hours (at the most).
I found an earlier post describing how to navigate to the Library/Application Support folder and deleting the Plex Media file, but no such file exists on my computer. How do I find the plugins folder ?

Hi, I have a problem starting PMS. Followed instructions to delete everything in plugins folder. Deleted and re-installed latest version. Nothing helped. Funny enough this happens after I upgraded my plexpass to lifetime status couples days ago. Syscon: Mac mini with OSX Server 10.8.5. PMS Log attached. Any help is welcome.

Well, tried today and it worked. It just took some time (10 min or more) to start.
I just installed the most recent version of Plex Media Server for OSX and I am having the same issue. I tried quitting, removing the Plug Ins folder and then copying a new version of the Plex Media Server app into the Applications folder and I am still having the same issue.
I, too, am having to restart the server several times a day (running the latest version of Mac OS PMS as of this writing). I only recently upgraded from an incredibly stable yet apparently insecure version of PMS. I will try the suggested course of action of deleting those files / folders and restarting.
If it matters, I have been a happy Plex user for many years. My current PMS runs on a late model dedicated Mac mini on a Gig LAN with a QNAP NAS hosting the media. There has been zero changes to my network or system in two and a half years except the upgraded Mac mini about a year ago.
I just deleted the entire contents of the Plug-Ins folder, deleted the Plex Media Server app, re-downloaded 0.9.9.7.429-f80a8d6, and am re-installing. If the server still chokes I will post logs. The Devs can feel free to Guinea pig my system, too.
Following up on my post from the 8th of this month, I just removed 0.9.9.7.429-f80a8d6 and replaced it with 0.9.8.18.290-11b7fdd and everything works fine again. None of the troubleshooting suggestions resolved my issue, 0.9.9.7.429-f80a8d6 would not stop saying "Starting", via the pled web interface and the iOS app I would receive an error when trying to play back any content that need transcoding (720p or 1080p .MKV files) giving me a "Cannot Load M3U*: 404 not found" error in the pled browser app, and "The operation could not be completed An Unknown Error has occurred (-12880)" in the Plex for iOS App.
I am running the server on both a Mac Mini running 10.9.1 and a Macbook Pro on 10.9.2.
For those who are trying to get Plex Server for Mac running and keep getting the cycling startup and 404 error, you've probably tried re-installing, upgrading versions, downgrading and so on. If you're still stuck then use a software uninstaller program to completely remove Plex Server. There are some files that just aren't taken out. This will do it.
It worked perfect for me and plex server came right up!

Will I lose all of my watched/unwatched meta if I do a complete uninstall with a uninstaller application? If so, is there any way to preserve this data?
I'm really sorry everyone... I recently sent out an update which turned out to have some problems, and prevents the media server from starting. By the time we realised, it'd already been downloaded by several users. We've taken the bad update offline, so it won't affect anyone else.
If you've been hit by this problem, you can resolve it by taking the following steps:
Quit the media server by selecting the Plex icon in your Mac's menu bar, and choosing "Quit" from the drop-down menu.
Open the folder "/Users/(username)/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins" in Finder.
Delete "Framework.bundle", and "System.bundle" or move them to the trash.
Restart Plex Media Server.
After that, everything should be back to normal. Please post in this thread if you're still having issues, and again I sincerely apologise for any trouble this has caused.
