Hi there. I have tried everything and I cant get mine to load. It seems to show the plex icon for a second then disappears. Can you help please?

And was the log file written to ? Plex Media Server.log

I am in the plugins folder but there is no framework.bundle or system.bundle files. There is only the .bundle files for the plugins like crackle, syfy, nickjr etc…
Any other places to find these files? any other fixes??

So facing this issue of loading films with 1080p films with DTS or Dolby Digital Audio, where I am stuck on the loading image on both local playing and on chromecast/ipad/iphone.

This topic is about the plex media server application itself getting stuck starting

Please raise a separate topic for your issue and see reporting issues with plex media server support page for how to report problems - link in my signature

bundle resets for core system bundles no longer needed to be fine as from version 0.9.12.5 of plex media server. If you hVe a problem, uninstall plex media server app and download 0.9.15.2 from https://plex.tv/downloads
And install - if you have problems provide logs as described in the reporting issues with plex media server support page

New user here running into this issue (great first startup experience^^).
PlexMediaServer-0.9.15.2.1663-7efd046-OSX, OS X El Capitan 10.11.2

Already tried reinstalling and restarting, server is always saying “Server is starting…” forever. Server Setup in Safari says:

“A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server. Please visit the forums and provide your logs, as described here.”

So here I am

This error message is output if the core bundles (python modules) that are part of Plex Media Server are not started in time. Causes have been seen to be:

  • corrupt install - less likely on Mac since the release is a zip and i would expect a corrupt zip not to be usable
  • security settings / firewall
  • proxy software
  • vpn application

The server log shows an error whilst communicating with the system.bundle

Do you have any added security product / proxy / vpn running?

Is there a log file named com.plexapp.system.log in PMS Plugin Logs folder within the Logs folder?

@sa2000 No, I do not have any kind of security/proxy/vpn software running. I also do not have com.plexapp.system.log file, the folder PMS Plugin Logs does not even exist.

Any other ideas?

Anybody able to help?

I have the same problem, have used PMS for several years on MacBook Pro and iMac. It started happening while I was at work in Korea so I have waited until now where I know I am not behind a Firewall or Proxy.

No logs are present in Logs folder.

VPN installed but not active.

If there are no logs, you could launch plex media server app in terminal window and see what errors get returned

I am having a similar problem. I have tried a clean install and verified port 32400 is open. Because I cannot get to the server, I can’t get it to generate a log file. I opened com.plexapp.plexmediaserver.plist and, to me, the file looks corrupt. If so, I don’t know how to repair it.

OSX 10.11.3

2.8 GHz i5

Go through an uninstall as described here

Is your Mac 32-bit or 64-bit?

Well, that didn’t work. Its quite strange in that the server starts, it will stream and transcode, but I cannot change any of the server settings and the media scraper does not work. It seems like a program conflict, but I haven’t installed any new programs since before the server started to hang.

My Mac is 64 bit and I have attached the verbose web log. This is after the clean install, so none of my library files are there.

That is the Plex Web App log. It is showing there is a server named Atomic 2
Are you sure there are no server log files when you follow these steps

Using the Finder’s Go menu, select Go To Folder... then enter the following in the dialog box that pops up:
~/Library/Logs/

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the server set to generate a log file before I lost access to its settings. Is there any file I can modify without using the web interface to get the server to generate a log?

No - it generates a log anyway unless it crashes out or there is permissions issue. The setting is only to increase level of logging - but there should be log files anyway regardless of logging level

Starting Plex Media Server in terminal session would identify startup errors and if it crashes

cd /Applications
./Plex\ Media\ Server.app/Contents/MacOS/Plex\ Media\ Server

That worked to generate errors. I also attached a diagnostics that ran yesterday.

Thanks for the log from terminal session and the high cpu crash log

Two things show from these

  1. You are using a very old version of Plex Media Server - 0.9.11.16. The current public release version is 0.9.15.3 available from plex.tv/downloads
  2. You have a Permissions issue with the user - the terminal session shows lots of errors like this
os.py", line 157, in makedirs
OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/Users/greggannon/Library/Logs/PMS Plugin Logs'

I suggest initially you look into the permissions errors

Bizarrely enough, I added write permissions to my log file and that cleared up the problem. I ran Disk Warrior about a month ago and that may have mucked up permissions to the file. You have to make the change manually as 10.11.3 Disk Utility does not have a permissions repair option. Thanks for the help!
