We do not reset bundles anymore - that stopped as from version 0.9.12.5
sa2000 - Thank you for taking the time to help out.
I have now started PMS via terminal window and the error I can see is:
OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: ‘/Users/willychang/Library/Logs/PMS Plugin Logs’
Can not find any PMS Plugin Logs in ~/Library/Logs/
Would appreciate any help

Open up Terminal, type:
cd ~/Library/Logs/
Hit Enter
Type:
ls -la
Hit Enter
Scroll down until you see “PMS Plugin Logs”. What permissions does it have?
If you do not see it, then I assume some rights are wrong on the Logs folder. Check that by typing:
cd ~/Library/
Hit Enter.
Type ls -la
Scroll down till you see Logs. Which permissions does the Logs folder have?
Hi Atrus
Could not see PMS Plugin Logs so I continued as you said
The line for logs look like this
drwxr-xr-x 4 root staff 136 Jan 26 13:22 Logs
I have, I think, changed to Read and Write permissions earlier in my attempts to figure this out

The problem is that you have set the Logs folder to be owned by root. It should be owned by the account you are using to login with. This might very well be solved if you repair rights of your harddrive. But if you want to do it manually you simply run this:
chown YourComputerUserName ~/Library/Logs/
That might not work because you have changed it to root. So maybe you need to run it as:
sudo chown YourComputerUserName ~/Library/Logs/
and type in the root password when your computer asks for it.
Also, I have no idea how many files and folders in the Logs folder that is affected by this. If it still does not work I would run this (if it were my computer):
sudo chown -R YourComputerUserName ~/Library/Logs/
This should work just fine.
Hi there,
I’ve just install “from zero” OS X El Capitan, downloaded PMS 0.9.16.3, unzipped, moved itself to app folder, but when lunching it, nothing happens, no error message, no logs, nothing.
PMS definitely hasn’t been installed on my Mac.
I open my account on Plex, and a “looking for server” error appears top left corner.
…
What’s going on here?
I’ve been using Plex for many years and recently get a pass to use it on my iPad, and now I can’t even access to any of my content.
Thanks for your support

If there is no Plex Media Server.log then you may need to launch Plex Media Server App in terminal and see what errors get returned Files
See this support page for the Plex Media Server.log https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-
and this post - one of many in this topic on how to launch in terminal https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1133248/#Comment_1133248

Thanks a lot sa2000;
I’ve just lunched the app from Terminal and I got this error message:
“Error: Unable to set up server: sqlite3_statement_backend::loadOne: database disk image is malformed”
Anything else I can do?

Have a look at Repair a Corrupt Database to see if the corruption is repairable - if not then need to look for any backups or recreate the database
The database file in question is
/Volumes/4TB/Casa/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases/com.plexapp.plugins.library.db

The database file in question is

It seems it worked for me.
Thanks a lot indeed.
Great support!!!
I had a problem with the Plex server not starting. I followed the guide here: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201941078-Uninstall-Plex-Media-Server
but no dice.
Version is OS X 10.12.3
Plex 1.3.3

Paste #Ot0OAwnWvCwhVXuyhGOp at spacepaste
The logs show two attempts to start Plex Media Server - at 10:24:30 and then 4 seconds later at 10:24:34
The first attempt some permission issue ? The path to the application did not look right.
Launched like this
/private/var/folders/8x/j212jm910gn5ym29xqr46qdm0000gn/T/AppTranslocation/CB73BE9E-F8B8-459F-B85B-1255525C477E/d/Plex Media Server.app/Contents/MacOS/Plex Media Server -psn_0_491640
This gave failure to start a child process
Jan 25, 2017 10:24:30.125 [0x70000ab85000] ERROR - JobManager: child process returned: 1 (Operation not permitted)
Then you launched it
/Applications/Plex Media Server.app/Contents/MacOS/Plex Media Server
and this started ok but failed to get the python processes running

Is there a PMS Plugin Logs directory within the Logs area ? It should have started this python process which would have logged to com.plexapp.system.log
It is not obvious as to why the python process for system.bundle did not run.
May be some permissions issues
Could you try to launch Plex Media Server in terminal - see this post http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1133248/#Comment_1133248
The forum thread is actually for similar symptoms
Thanks for getting back to me!
There is no PMS Plugin Logs
/private/var/folders/8x/j212jm910gn5ym29xqr46qdm0000gn/T/ exists and is owned by my user, but the subdirectory AppTranslocation does not exist.
When I start from the terminal, I have the following python related errors. Your help in resolving them would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know what setup you have - is this some VM setup ?
Such errors as you have can be found by doing some google web searches
have a look at this - one of several
Lots of Errors in your terminal session like this
from lxml import etree, html, objectify
ImportError: dlopen(/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/lxml/etree.so, 2): Symbol not found: _PyUnicodeUCS2_AsASCIIString
Referenced from: /usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/lxml/etree.so
Expected in: flat namespace
Can you try install on a Mac directly with no virtualization and other complications
No virtualisation. This is a recent install of 10.12.3 on a Macbook.

sorry I thought it was when I saw the vmnet adapters for network
There were two showing
The errors are to do with picking wrong python library
Could you in terminal, do this and tell me what you get
echo $PYTHONPATH
It might show /usr/local/lib/python2.7
Then please run
unset PYTHONPATH
and run Plex Media Server again
vmnet are there because this computer is sometimes used as a host (not running plex in the vm)
echo $PYTHONPATH returns nothing and just for ■■■■■ and giggles I ran unset PYTHONPATH before starting plex and had the same errors.
Evidently I have lxml in /usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages (lxml-3.7.2 installed via pip) and Plex is using that instead of the lxml in /Applications/Plex Media Server.app/Contents/Resources/Python/lib/python2.7/site-packages/lxml
So, I think the question become how can I make Plex prioritise its own modules?

That was a possibility since we set $PYTHONHOME but not $PYTHONPATH
Could you launch Plex Media Server.app normally by double clicking the app icon and then wait a couple of minutes, find out the PID of the plex media server process and then dump the environment variables
ps eww <pid>
and see what we have set
I have checked with the development team and the presence of /usr/local/lib/python2.7/ did not appear to matter - so not sure what is happening in your environment
