There is no Verbose logging.

I gave your wrong name, It is LogVerbose and not logVerbose

Proper verbose logging: https://0bin.net/paste/BgPrpc-IZw+aki3B#DnCb6x2i7q9tBqVS8E0xbFobYDFDnbzH0-jioN8sAvF

Sorry to have messed you around with regards to the new verbose logging for python path
It is new and of course this means it is not in version 1.3.4 which is what you are running on - the new logging is in the latest Plex Pass release

Will have to wait until the problem can be replicated

Just downloaded newest PMServer; same issue, here are the logs.

@noirmaru and @stuzog

We have spent some time trying to reproduce this python path issue without being able to reproduce the problem - trying out on Mac OS 10.10 systems lxml install via System PIP and also trying out lxml install via homebrew and did not get the problem.

Is the problem still there on your system?

updated to Version 1.4.4.3495-edef59192 and the issue persists

If you are experiencing an issue where your Server is stuck with the “Starting” message, please provide debug Plex Media Server logs from the time you start the Server until “Starting” is displayed. This should help us determine where the issue lies and what might be causing it. Please also include both your OS X version and Plex Media Server version when posting your logs.

NOTE: We know this issue is not ‘solved’, but need to get more visibility of the issue and narrow down what might be causing it.

Either I do not see the update or the update didnt work. I have deleted and reinstalled the server and it STILL crashes. Do I need to download this in the APP store on my MAC?

How do I locate these logs you are talking about?

Just downloaded and reinstalled PMS version same as @noirmaru – identical refusal to start.

@sa2000 – lxml (3.7.1) is installed, as indicated by pip list. No formula lxml found by brew install lxml.

I’m wondering if this issue is peculiar to the iMac 7,1 – what Mac do you have @noirmaru, @QuintonSmith, @sa2000?

MacBook Pro

Do you still have a problem?
I see you now have a server running version 1.5.1

This support page gives information on where the server logs are
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files

@noirmaru @stuzog could I have fresh logs for this with verbose as well as debug logging enabled and using the current public release - version 1.4.4 and also launching it in terminal and capturing the terminal console content as well as the zipped server logs

To enable verbose logging also, need to amend the Preferences file
File Location: ~/Library/Preferences/com.plexapp.plexmediaserver

On OSX you change the preferences with the help of the defaults command:
defaults write com.plexapp.plexmediaserver LogVerbose 1

To launch in terminal

cd /Applications
./Plex\ Media\ Server.app/Contents/MacOS/Plex\ Media\ Server

@sa2000
https://transfer.sh/IV4Af/Plex%20Media%20Server.zip

I’m having the same problems. Here are my logs.

I forgot to include which version of OS I’m using. I’m using Mac OSX 10.11.6

@sa2000 @noirmaru Fresh download, same issue, logs attached:

It depends as to whose problems you are referring to. Definitely not the same problems as what was last discussed in this thread.

There is database corruption which is causing the failure

Reporting in, server not starting.

The log shows a couple of issues

  • you are not launching Plex Media Server from within the /Applications folder

It shows the path to the Plex Media Server.app as

/private/var/folders/cd/8pfchqx967d2bzhcv_zwrv2c0000gn/T/AppTranslocation/922AD2F8-902A-454C-8DE7-C99E404344BD/d/Plex Media Server.app

Please move the downloaded app to the /Applications folder and run it from there

  • second issue could be permissions issue ? There are lots of these errors
Jun 02, 2017 22:43:21.524 [0x700007093000] WARN - Warning: ex: boost::filesystem::last_write_time: No such file or directory: "/Users/alessandromirto/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins", couldn't check file: /Users/alessandromirto/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins

With the Plex Media Server.app run from within the /Applications folder, if the problem remains, get a directory listing in terminal session - getting the output from

ls -al ~/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server

Just installed Plex 1.7.5.4035-313f93718
June 28, 2017
The problem with lxml still exists and prevents Plex from starting. Sometimes I remove lxml (pip uninstall lxml) but I need it for other python stuff…

Any fresh ideas on this problem?

Don’t know what to say. Our attempts to reproduce the problem failed. This is the feedback I had:

I have spent some time on my own machine and another 10.10 Mac OS VM and have not been able to reproduce this. I have lxml installed via System PIP and I had no issues. I even installed lxml via homebrew and had no issues
