Has anyone figured out a solution for this? Hard to believe we are paying for this. Going back to the free version. Then I wouldn’t expect so much and be reluctant to be a beta tester.

Please look for the Plex Media Server logs and attach here.
Startup issues can be investigated by launching Plex Media Server in terminal.
So make sure it is shutdown and Plex processes running then, start a terminal session, and enter commands
cd /Applications
./Plex\ Media\ Server.app/Contents/MacOS/Plex\ Media\ Server
and save all the output and share here with what you find in the logs directory
See https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files

umm, there is an option…
Plex won’t open at all… When in Terminal mode I get…
./Plex\ Media\ Server.app/Contents/MacOS/Plex\ Media\ Server
Error: Unable to set up server: sqlite3_statement_backend::loadOne: database disk image is malformed (N4soci10soci_errorE)

It looks like the database is corrupt

Hello, I have the same issue. Database didn’t report any error but I did what you suggested in the first link. It hasn’t helped.

Would need to see if the logs got written to
And if not, to load the Plex Media Server app in terminal and see what gets reported

Hello, actually i just did a reinstall of the app and it seems to have worked. Thanks
Same issue here, and a reinstall of the app fixed it. It was stuck on “Server is starting” after we had a power outage. I removed all cache files, and preferences, and neither worked. Strangely enough, I could still access and stream my media, I just couldn’t access the server preferences using Plex Web. I tried relaunching the Server several times while removing said files above, and at point media also suddenly was unavailable.
A reinstall of the server application, despite being the same version (1.9.7.4460), fixed it. Does the server save cache files or similar in its binary, which may have been incompletely saved upon the power outage?
OSX 10.11.6 El Capitan.

I believe there is caching but it would Mac OS X rather than plex media server
My server hasn´ t start for months now. I have OSX High Sierra 10.13.2. Does all OSX users still has this problem? Really no solution yet?

Not sure whats wrong but I have High Sierra working fine.
Try trashing the Browsers cache, secondly Trash PMS cache in your Library from the go menu.Empty trash and restart.
Lastly if all fails Uninstall and re install PMS

Most common causes of failure to start on Mac are
- Plex Media Server database has corruptions
- Permissions / Ownership issues for
~/Library/Logsand~/Library/Caches
I’ve tried this several times. Still not working.

Then try Repair:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201100678-repair-a-corrupt-database/
So you have followed the Uninstall procedure?
The Library is from the Go menu at top of desktop. To show Library you must hold down the option key.
Then it can only be a compatibility / conflict issue with other third party apps. It has been know that istat a meter app has caused issues. Firstly make sure all apps are up todate and try disabling apps that run in background

I missed some small but important details in the Library från the Go menu in your instructions. When I did it the exact way you said, I found many, many Flex files there. I think there were both old and doublet files there. They all went to the trash can, my Plex server too, did empty the trash, made a restart and finally a new clean Server installation – hocus pocus – the Plex Server works perfect now!
BIG thanks! ![]()

That is the plex client app.
Would need to see the Plex Media Server logs.
What happens when you launch Plex Media Server ? Does it show up in Tools / Activity Monitor ?
Look for the logs - see this support article for the location of the logs folder
https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/
See section headed Manually Find Log Files
Please copy out and zip and attach

Thank you for the server logs
You appear to have multiple plex.tv accounts - you need to make sure that the plex client apps eg Plex Media Player or Plex Web are signed in to the same plex.tv account that the server is signed into
The server is signed in to annoying1899 - is this the account the Plex Media Player and Plex Web signed into?
If you wish to change the account the server uses, you need to sign into plex.tv/web to the same account and then select settings / server / general and sign the server out. Then sign plex web out. and close browser. Then sign in to plex.tv with the account you want to use and claim the server for that account
I see you are trying different versions of the server - please stick to the latest - available from https://plex.tv/downloads
