Currently for an episode there is no metadata for the Episode number. For the Season you can look at the Episode’s parent and get the season information. The only way to get the episode number it seems is to extract that info from the Filename of the episode itself. It would be nice to include an attribute in the video tag that just had this information itself. This comes in particularly handy when you only have sporadic episodes of a series.
Okay, it looks like for each Episode, Plex has a index and parentIndex attribute on the Video element. This apparently corresponds to Episode Number and Season Number. So index=1 parentIndex=2 means Season 2 Episode 2.
Additional information for those that need it. If the parentIndex is missing on the Video element for the episode, check the MediaContainer for the parentIndex attribute. This will contain the necessary Season number information. Not very intuitive but that is where it is at.
