Quick question.
I use Media Center Master to download meta data for my media.
Does Plex use this data (and posters, backdrops, info about the film or TV series)? Or does Plex get data about the files from elsewhere and stores it elsewhere?
Thanks

… and Plex is extremely picky about your file names - do things right - and things will go much more smoothly:

Note:
Failing to follow the instructions, precisely, for TV Shows - will end your Plex Career in short order. VLC and a File Explorer will work better.
Watch this space though.
There are lots of changes in the pipeline with Plex metadata handling with the new scanner.
When I hear reports of faster users trampling slower users to death in a mad stampede for the new thing - I’ll check it out…lol
In the meantime - not much beats a good file name and structure:

Yeah, I’m covered for naming and always will be.
It doesn’t alter the fact though that scanning a library of 510 movies from scratch on a test system is at least 50% faster with .nfos in place than proper naming alone.
No use case for me personally…unless the fateful days comes where the dedicated drive with my metadata folder goes kaput!
Don’t say that. That’ll be a sad day.
Filebot and me are getting 98% accuracy - naturals all.
That’s worth whatever it costs and then some.
Anyway @StarlightExpress
Don’t be deleting all that metadata and nfo’s just yet. It’s very new and I don’t think it’s even classed as beta yet.
Also for now it only works with movie libraries.
By the time it comes to shows, I will have .nfo’s all ready to go.
PS. I had a nightmare getting MCM to install on W10 earlier. I gave up and went for TMM.
