In the case of tv shows that have movies and movies that have mini-series; sometimes the metadata lands the movie or show somewhere I don’t want it. Take for instance, South Park which has movies and a TV Show and in all honesty I wish I could list it all as a Show, the same with The Simpsons. An opposite case would be Stephen King’s It, which I guess at some point IMDB decided it was a mini-series and not a movie except to me it is a Movie. Currently I have manually put the data in as a Movie on my own but I cannot get to all the data like I should be able to despite being a lifetime member of Plexpass. I would like it if you could allow us to take a “Mini-series” and allow Plex to populate the metadata however it does naturally bur allow us to manually say "Nope I want this to show up under Movies with all this same metadata, and vice versa. In fact it would be nice if you could then allow us to say move the file to the appropriate storage folder as well.
Many of the shows you mention have their “movies” listed as specials.
e.g. The Simpsons Movie is listed on TheTVDb as s00e50 (in addition to be listed as a movie). TMDb might have had a similar record but opted to remove the duplicate (given the movie was released in cinemas).
Point being, with the right episode ordering (here: TheTVDb), you can get those to show up in line with your expectations.
Another option is to assign both to a same-named collection.
I’ve been doing this with the movie releases of an anime – they’re split across a TV/movie library, but listed as related media.
There’s already an existing suggestion aiming to list merged releases of mini series as movies. Please comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
Ummm its not called Movie mini-series for a reason. Just like Back to the Future last movie was broken up into 2 movies. Made for TV are called TV mini-series. That will never change. I get where your coming from.
Yes which is why I said we should have a way to decide where it gets listed after it comes into our server.
