Its not. Several points:
Next time there is a new episode, instead of adding it instantly to plex, watch https://watch.plex.tv/ and wait till the metadata there is correct and then add your file. Gonna bet that it populates with the correct metadata at that point.
I’ll have to see what happens this week. I think all of my episodes had metadata updates at the same time yesterday so I don’t have a test subject yet. I do know though that my episode of Invincible did have the full data on Plex and TVDB, but mine still had TBA title and no description. So I’ll have to watch what happens with a new episode and see.
I’m sorry for all of the posts, I just want to keep a running list of events for my sake and anyone else who may run into this eventually.
Yesterday a new episode of Eminence in Shadow dropped. I checked today on Plex’s site and they have the metadata for it. All I have is the title, no description. I will keep an eye on when this updates for my server.
Looks like it got updated! I’m not sure what changed but it seems to be back to normal now. Maybe it was the admin thing? I appreciate everyone’s help 
Once you start doing that, you’ll always have to do it that way, until you’ve reset the access permissions of your Plex data folder.
