Metadata on videos in photo library

I’m new to Plex and trying to create a photo library that feels kind of similar to Google photos, but with better (manual) tagging for certain things.

I’m currently running into a few problems:

  1. When I add old videos to my photos library, they don’t show up in the correct place on the timeline. I made sure the created date and modified date are set correctly on both the file and in the metadata, but they always show up on the day that I added them to the library. Is there any way to get around this?
  2. Tags work very well for Movies, TV shows and Photos, but I can’t add tags to videos in my Photo library even though videos are supported.
  3. You can’t filter on tags in the timeline view.

Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with any of those? I looked at the other way of organizing home movies as TV shows, but that was pretty awkward and I’d prefer to avoid it. I really want to search on tags (people, events, etc.) within that library.

Also, while googling to try to solve this myself, I found a bunch of older threads on pretty serious timeline issues that I haven’t encountered yet (but soon will) like date restrictions and other things. Those were brought up a few years ago but not resolved. Should I just give up on using the timeline?

I knew you could add videos to a photo library but thought there are issues that comes from that.
Even their site boosts about tagging and such but only for pictures.
