Some episodes don’t get metadata when the file is added to the library. Whether this is because the metadata isn’t yet added to thetvdb yet, the caching server doesn’t have the information yet or there is an internet problem at the time, I don’t know.
When this happens, I often end up with a file that has a thumbnail but it lacks an airdate and its title defaults to Episode X. When I click on the file and go to refresh, it says it completes the refresh but none of the metadata is corrected. If I go into the show itself and use the Fix Incorrect Match button to reselect the show, then it successfully refreshes the metadata for all of the episodes of that show that are missing.
I know the show is successfully matched because sometimes it will happen to a random episode and I won’t notice. For instance, Episodes 1-8 will be correct. Episode 9 will have no metadata and Episode 10 will be fine. But Episode 9 shows up as the same show as the rest of the episodes, just no air date or title.
But hitting refresh on the individual episode or the entire series doesn’t successfully update the metadata. Only the Fix Incorrect match button works.
Also, I just checked and sometimes even Fix Incorrect Match doesn’t work. I just did that because S02E10 of Silicon Valley appeared to have no metadata. I used Fix Incorrect Match and it removed the metadata from all of the other episodes in both seasons.
Edit: And I tried Fix Incorrect Match again a couple of minutes later and it successfully refreshed all episodes, including S02E10.
I still have no idea what’s happening. It happens even with anti-virus turned off. Just some random episodes don’t get proper metadata and the refresh button doesn’t fix it. Anyone have any idea?
I’ve clicked on the … on the episode and gone to refresh. I’ve clicked on the one on the left hand side menu when the episode was selected then again for the season and then again on the one for the whole show.

I finally gave up and hit Fix Incorrect Match on The Late Show and the metadata refreshed properly on that episode.
