Microsoft OneDrive Cloud Sync Support

+1, would be great!

I have 20 down and 2 up. I know speed varies and I can't expect it to be instant, but I know if I were uploading similar amounts of data to dropbox or Google Drive it would be faster.  I am lucky if it uploads 4 videos a day. Either way, I am sure many plex customers aren't on crazy fast internet and if Microsoft is limiting the uploads, it would effect the experience of Plex.  That being said, I hope Plex does offer support for oneDrive

OneDrive without a doubt limits upload speeds.  It seems like it would negatively effect the Plex experience if people were to rely on OneDrive.

Onedrive is pledged with buffering issues, has very poor streaming performance.

This is a well knowen issue. I don't think it would make a very good cloud streaming solution.

Sooo, to all those nay sayers that claim it is not possible to support onedrive, it seems that is yet another feature that is available with Emby:

Actually, I am beginning to wonder: are there still many thing supported by Plex not yet available in Emby???

But yeah, to be fair, this feature is not even a year old on the forum, we are still still far from the 2 years required period to get any form of response on the matter, such as: "we are working on it", "coming soon" or my favorite one "trust us, we are working on some awesome stuff that you are going to love".

How about an assortment of clients to connect to your server?
Clients that work better (when they have the same clients in common)
More consistency (really) IE Emby uses different formats to stream to different browsers so often times you need more transcoding
Much better transcoder engine consistancy and ability to stream to more clients
and many more

Don't get me wrong, Emby is quite nice and has some features Plex doesn't have and does some things better at the server level but it's got quite a ways to go before it could be a replacement for Plex for many of us.

Carlo

+1 at least you can allow me to see all the media content on onedrive with option to sync/remove(to some temporary storage) the selected ones, without having the whole TBs on my harddrive. This would be great as i have normal internet speed(Just uploaded 700Mb to OneDrive in 5 minutes) and the collections stored on OneDrive. Thank you.

Emby grows more interesting by the day.

Their iOS apps seem unavailable at the moment, but once they are back I'm definitely going to give it a look - they are catching (and surpassing) Plex at what should be an alarming rate for them.

Xbox app is a bonus at the moment, but who knows what Windows 10 will bring to Xbox One soon.

Definitely one to watch for those frustrated with Plex's slow progress and terrible communication.

Edit: Just read their forums, they are keeping the users well updated on the new iOS apps, are beta testing them with members of the community and last update was they should be submitted to the app store any day now.

Just got a tablet with Windows 8.1 for 89€, including 1 year subscription to Office 365, which includes 1TB on OneDrive. I think a huge amount of us own space on OneDrive, plz support!

I left Emby for Plex and i have been with Emby for quite a bit. They are moving rapidly but there main problem is they lack devs and since it is open source, Devs are hard to come by. The consequence of this is that only a handful of the clients are really stable across the board for almost all users. The rest is a 50/50 thing. they are still in the process of overhauling 2 clients and its has been like that for a year almost...The Emby Theater and iOS client are client are still being worked on with no eta in site. Android Mobile client was finally released after months of waiting. With more Devs, Emby will surpass plex for sure if Plex keeps up there current rate of things. Emby already is better i many main aspects over plex imo:

- Server

- Multi user

- Metadata

- LiveTV (absent from plex)

Where Emby still needs work:

- Offline sync

- Client stability

- Transcoding

I moved to plex mainly because of offline sync. Cloud sync is a nice to have but unless i can move all my library to the cloud, i cant bother with the "pick and choose"

Thanks for the insight into Emby - one point though, just from my cursory glance at the forum I saw a dev say the iOS apps are being submitted any day now. That could be a game changer for me if it's good.

Offline sync, while nice when it works, is buggy and I only use it two or three times a year really. We all use Plex, so we're used to months of waiting lol, but I much prefer what I've seen of Emby's open communication with users.

Im new to plex so as for waiting...i will have to see. In Emby, it depends on what your waiting for...if it is iOS then your just in time because it is the next on the list to be release...but it has been a long time coming...Emby dev are quick on the gun for lots of stuff but more often then not, the first release of a new feature is buggy. The only thing in the past months to get a constant stream of updates is the server. Compared to plex, i will see in the coming weeks on the apps side of things. I have been waiting since Emby was still MB3 and the cost for premium was 10$(it is now 80$) for them to release a completed version of there MB Theater (now Emby Theater) and it has been more then a year with the same old message..."its coming " & " it will be ready when its ready". So again it depends on what your waiting for.

I find this feature really important to me since i commute and dont have access to internet during that time. Emby, this was a hit or miss using the Win8.1 app and was tired of it so that pushed me over to plex. So far i have had just a great experience with plex offline syncing. Also what made me move to plex is the Anime support which is very poor in Emby and not getting any attention from the Devs.

I like that emby is open source but its a double edge sword. Because its free(in general), when you want something specific done, if the Devs dont think it is worth it, all you get is a "if you want it do it yourself".
