Plex Cloud

Hi,

Is it not possible to add Amazon Cloud Drive to the plex cloud anymore? Its not showing up as one of the options.

Thanks.

It seems only Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive are available right now. Plex was struggling with Amazon for quite some time now, not only with Plex Cloud but also Plex Cloud Sync.

What a shame, I’ve got Amazon Unlimited with all my media on. The other options are too expensive. Ill upload some stuff to Google Drive to try it out.

Just announced: Plex Cloud will no longer work with Amazon Cloud Drive.

“Unfortunately, the challenges with Amazon Drive have proven insurmountable at this time, so we have decided to remove Amazon Drive as a storage option for Plex Cloud for the foreseeable future.”

Unfortunate indeed. The other supported cloud providers are much more expensive. Plex Cloud was a very attractive feature with Amazon, but not so much with the others. Oh well …

Well, bugger that!! I have just uploaded 5.2TB of media to Amazon Drive in anticipation of Plex Cloud. All of the other providers are far too expensive to even consider so I guess I can just forget about it now then until they fix “THEIR ISSUES”!!

I wonder what the issues are with Amazon Cloud Drive, is it an API issue? like a limiting of api calls or something… anyone seen anything about the specifics yet?

So glad I didn’t rush out and subscribe to Amazon Cloud.

Perhaps it’s time they allow us to use personal NAS as the cloud space. I have a good internet speed and a big HDD, it would be great if I could just plug it into my router and not worry about paying fees.

that sucks. i uploaded 7TB worth of stuff… the other providers cost too much for 7TB of data. :frowning:

wonder if you have your ACD mounted like I do as a hard drive will this still work the cloud sync was naff it never works I have a dvd box set and the small orange number always shows only 5 shows but when you view the series its all there … I really do think Plex jumped the gun with Plex Cloud and yes the other services are way to expensive meaning should we now be all looking at alternatives to Plex until they work out the issues. I reckon that’s a long way off.

i currently do have ACD mounted with ACDCLI on a Ubuntu VPS. it’s working pretty well except for when starting a stream it pauses for a second and says the connection is not fast enough, but after that it plays smoothly. The VPS has a 250mbps guaranteed connection but i notice that transfers from the cloud drive start of very slow so that’s where that “connection is slow” message comes from.

Not for nothing, but an unlimited google drive is 10 bucks a month. Not as good as ACD, but still not terrible. I’ve got both and am copying the data I pushed into ACD over to Google Drive.

How? When looking to upgrading today it says 1TB for $9.99 month or 100TB for $99.99 month…

Where have you seen that? I only see unlimited storage for google drive for education or business apps; which as an individual might not be able to sign up for.

Sometimes it’s good to wait and see until kinks are figured out and solved. But I guess that’s why they call it a beta.

@mdnitoil It looks like unlimited Google Drive is only for teams of more than 5 users, at $10/mo/user. Is that correct, or can I get it as a single user?

There’s Google Drive for Business, but there’s a bit more to it than just $10 a month.

  • It is $10 per user per month.
  • If it is an account with less than 5 users, storage is capped at 1TB per user
  • Individual files are capped at 5GB
  • If you wanted unlimited space, it would be $50 a month as you are paying for 5 users

Okay, this has been mentioned before but it bears repeating. Go to gsuite.google.com. Sign up for the business version and not the basic. The cost is 10 bucks up front for a domain name and then 10 bucks a month. When you do this you get all this g-suite stuff and a custom email address based on the domain name, etc. But what you also get is an unlimited google drive. I got it all set up and the only thing I’m using is the unlimited google drive. They claim that you need to have 5 paying employees (thereby generating 50 bucks a month in income to google), however single user accounts, like I have, are still getting the unlimited storage.

Are you sure it is unlimited and not just capped at 1TB like it says on their page?

Yes $10 per month or £6.60 UK

Single Users have been for quite some time getting unlimited - of course this may change but currently single users still get unlimited. You can sign up for a trial before having to pay, so can of course try!

Files are not capped at 5GB I have files way bigger than this…
They are capped at 5 TB
