Installed Plex, stopped the service.
ran the following commands successfully; waiting to confirm step 6

rm -rf ./Library
tar xf /share/Public/PlexBackup.tar

“…we can create, delete edit content in the “PlexData” folder , any child objects below this, denied. Vetted permissions everywhere, solid no issues…” I’ve been pulling my hair out on this all day until I just discovered this post. I’m on QTS 5.1.5.2679 and experiencing this exact behavior. I’ve enabled the old admin account. I’ve removed and re-added the PlexData share a bunch of times. Always get a perfect listing and can navigate the folders. I can create files/folders in the PlexData share, but try and open Preferences.xml and permission denied.
Qnap advised this would be resolved with a FW update. There was one released today, have not tried
FWIW… That was one of the many paths I tried today. I’m on the firmware released today.
I have the same issues. I cannot get the preferences or make a back up regardless of being in the default admin account and having full privileges. It denies access. I should add I always was able to in the past.
I’m trying to understand the process and read most of the replies but it is still no clear to me, I did this:
- created a share folder Plexdata
- installed PMS
- started PMS and stopped after login
now…
I checked where is the Plex Media Server according with this link https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/
and it returned
/share/ZFS530_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer
but the share folder that I created is located at
ZFS23_DATA/Plexdata/ (or /share/Plexdata/)
so how do I do now for Plex to use the share folder that I created?

Never mind, I found that my problem was with case sensitive folder name, the share folder should be PlexData (P upper and D upper).
