Hi Team long term PlexPass user. Need advice on the easiest way to migrate watched/unwatched status to a new PMS. Not particularly concerned about server settings and data.
Currently running PMS on MacPro (brilliant performance, dual CPU, 64Gb RAM, 8Gb video) however, due to excessive power consumption of the Mac, I have recently bought an nVidia Shield Pro to run PMS. All setup, libraries configured (all run from Synology NAS).
I have a few users who use the system (kids moved out, still want Dad’s Plex) so need to ensure all users watched/unwatched status is migrated to the new system.
What files do I need to grab from the current PMS and how do I get them on the Shield?
I have searched and I can find Windows>Windows etc, but not my specific setup…
Another update.
I have connected a USB drive to the nVidia Shield and moved PMS to it, I also have a 2tb WD drive connected to the Shield.
I have set up these USB drives on the Shield to be able to access both of these from my Mac.
I have backed up my Mac PMS data (not media drive, that is on a Synology NAS) but the folder structure within the Shield does not match that from the Mac. Where do I copy my PMS database backup to?
Final update and it is completed. I have moved my Mac based PMS to nVidia Shield, including all watched/unwatched status. Removed the USB thumbdrive and made the 2TB portable my internal shared media. Uninstalled PMS and Plex App from the Shield, reset the USB HDD and formatted within the the Shield. Installed PMS again, did not change a setting. Copied the Mac Plex Media Server folder to the nVidia USB over Ethernet, once done, rebooted Shield and viola.
