Minimize power consumption on idle RPi?

I know from the threads and elsewhere that the Pi can’t sleep completely like a full PC, and that it only consumes about 5W on average.

My question is, what settings can I change to make sure the CPU & GPU is running at the lowest during these idle period? For instance, would the screensaver settings be any helpful? Some even claim that the GPU in a Raspberry Pi turns off automatically. Is this true? Does it work like that in RasPlex?

Most of the time, when the TV is turned off, the RPi will be at the main menu and it will be dimmed a bit when not interacted. Is this the ‘best case’ for minimum power consumption within the capabilities of a Rasplex device?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Yes.

Couldn’t this minimize power consumption further?

Highly recommended, Rasplex has built in support for these, no config needed.

Got four of these now, but they do not affect power consumption unless you turn the RPi using the remote, easier than pulling the power cable if you really want to turn it off to save power.

Alright thanks for the thoughts.

The cost of the RemotePi is rather steep after converting it to my currency so I guess I’ll just leave it idling like everyone else.

If I may ask again, wouldn’t the black screensaver option be more energy efficient than the dim option?

Or are we splitting hairs?

Splitting hairs, no discernible difference.
