RasPlex (or RBP) does not let Plex server sleep.

Hi there. I am using my MacMini as a plex server in my computer room, and I was previously using an old MacMini (old mini) for Plex client. I have recently replaced my old mini with Raspberry Pi B+ and installed Rasplex without any problems. The only issue I have now is that, previously my old mini, and therefore my Plex server were all going to sleep when not used, but now as there is no sleep option for Rasplex, it seems like it is always on, and it also seems it does not let the server sleep. Even though I put the server to sleep manually, it wakes up in couple of minutes with network activity.

Now my question is that, is there any possible way to put the RBP (or Rasplex) to sleep, so that it does not bother the Plex server when not used? I do not want to shut it down and power it up everytime, since I placed the RBPin a not-easy-to-reach corner of my TV unit.

Thanks for your answers in advance.

Sorry, the Raspberry Pi has no support for ‘sleep’ or ‘suspend’, it’s either on or it’s not. This is a limitation of the hardware.

Thanks for the reply.

I think I will try it by shutting down the Plex server software, maybe this keeps my MacMini in sleep mode without any disturbance.

Would this do the job? As I understand it, it is able to safely shutdown the Pi.

Works well and Rasplex has built in support for it, depends whether he has line of sight for an IR remote to be able to shutdown the RPi.

Ok, thanks!

I WakeOnLan is available on Ransperry you can use that no?

The Raspberry Pi does not support Wake-on-Lan as the Ethernet Chipset is connected to the USB BUS and has no EEPROM, it is actually to all intents and purposes a USB to Ethernet Adaptor, sorry.
