Two questions regarding Plex

Hello all,

I am trying to setup my Rasplex system on the TV. I have it working great but am wondering if the community can help me with two issues I am having.

First is I can not turn the TV off. Every time I have the Rasplex system connected and try and turn the TV off, it turns off but then reboots 20 seconds later. I've tried the Sleep, Quit and Shutdown options on Rasplex but sadly the same issue happens, it shuts down but then reboots 20 seconds later.

Second querie is it is possible to have a sleep option on Rasplex? It would be awesome to have it shutdown automatically in 30 minutes or something like that...

Thanks all.

Hello,

Sleep is not possible as the RPi Hardware doesnt support Sleep states. This is why Sleep will reboot.

You need to change the CEC action when you turn off the TV. Its probably set to Suspend which will reboot. and then restart the TV. You can find that option in Input Peripherals in settings (look for the CEC peripheral).

Thanks for the replay LongChair.

You are correct, the CEC action was set to Suspend. I switched it to Shutdown to no avail unfortunately, the TV still reboots after 20 seconds. Any other troubleshooting issues you can think of I can try?

Thanks.

Yes, set it to Ignore, that's what I do.

Cheers KnightOrc I have done that and the TV turns off.

I am worried that the Pi is still running though, any side effects to this? Does it consume much power?

Thanks again.

The Pi is still running, it doesn't use that much power, but if you want to shut it down I suggest getting a small IR module which allows you to (gracefully) turn it off and turn it on again.  Shutting it down using the menu is fine, but powering it on means unplugging and replugging the micro USB, kind of annoying in the long term.
