Missing Apps/Channels on ATV When Using Manually Specified DNS Server

When I set the ATV2 to use the PlexConnect computer as DNS and restart it, all of the default channels are missing (Trailers, Movies, Music, etc...).  If I start it using the "automatic" setting and then change the DNS to manually point to PlexConnect everything works fine for a while, then Trailers will stop respond and I'll I have to swap back to automatic, restart, then swap back to manual.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Which part?

Nothing relevant as far as apps disappearing in the FAQ nor Troubleshooting section that I could see.  Nor any issues (open or closed) on github.

I'm using my own DNS server, so I don't know if the DNS server of PlexConnect will matter (and therefore if the logs will matter), but it also happens when using the PlexConnect DNS server.

I've tried every phrasing on google that I can think of (missing apps, missing channels, etc..)

The logs for PlexConnect indicate nothing is happening as far as I can tell: http://pastebin.com/RV5G5DSA

Wahlman is referring to the bit that says post all of your info. We can't offer advice if we don't know what your exact config looks like.

If you are using your own DNS server on the same machine as PlexConnect then you need to disable the PlexConnect one and setup the redirection for trailers on yours as port 53 will already be in use.
The symptoms show that DNS is not working for non trailers addresses but you need to fill in the info sheet if anyone is to help you.

@barrettj, did you wait enough time after reboot your atv ? The default channels appears when the ATV is connected to internet (I understand that the ATV connects to Apple servers to get a specific xml file). So maybe your ATV just need time to connect to your iMac, to get connected to internet through the DNS specified (your iMac), and then to show the default channels ?

It's just a "maybe"...
