I have a movie where the audio is missing in the original quality. If I bump it down to 720 then I get audio. Any ideas how to fix it? Android app on a Sony NSZ-GS7. Works OK on my desktop machine.
Sounds like (pun intended) that you are trying to play an audio format your TV doesn’t support, I’m guessing AC3. By setting the quality down, you eventually trigger the audio to get transcoded. There should be an audio setting in the Plex app to turn off AC3 support.
I think my TV supports AC3. There are 3 settings similar to what you mention; AC3, Advanced AC3, and DTZ. I tried each enabled and disabled and no sound. In the advanced section I tried enabling and disabling Direct Stream. No difference. The audio format is MP3, 2 channel, 48 KHz.
Direct Play was set to “Automatic” I tried all settings and found that by disabling it the media played. I found e detailed explanation on Plex support page and I see that this will force it to be transcoded which is what I was hoping to find. Thanks.
Again on this old legacy player running android 3xxx you will have many issues.
That is strange if your device doesn’t support MP3. What version of the app are you running?
I agree. It’s old tech. It was on sale when I bought it and I thought Google TV was the cool new thing. Then Google decided it sucked and abandoned it. Then they invented Android TV. WTH? Why didn’t they just fix Google TV. Google I love but they are fickle. So today I bought a Roku Premiere+
To answer the other question I have Android 3.2 and Plex for Android 4.24.2.563. I removed it an reinstalled it so it seem that Plex’s maximum version for 3.2 is 4.24.2.563.
Moving on!
Yeah, that is such an old version. I don’t even remember what it could or couldn’t do.
I also decommissioned my old SBS 2008 server that was running Plex Server and moved it to a Win10 box. I’m happy that so many tings are running now. Next: Get Plex DVR working with my HDHomeRun.
