Missing devices, what consequences?

Hello,
Following the movement of disks of my media, I want to know how Plex will react if for several days part of the media library is no longer present?
Will it delete everything from the database? How long will he wait before doing so?

Unchecking the empty trash option is enough to keep Plex from deleting unavailable media, or will it end up doing so? In 3 days, in 1 week?

thank you

I had a drive fail about 4 months ago. I unchecked “Empty Trash Automatically” and I’m in the process of re-ripping Blurays/DVD’s etc to add to the new replacement drive. So far, nothing has been deleted, only shows the “Unavailable” or “Trash Can” icon if I select that item.

The new, old items become available again as soon as there added to the drive, and all seems fine.

The Plex Ninjas and Devs probably wouldn’t approve of this method, but so far no glitches for me. I’m running Windows, but I doubt that would make a difference.

I’m not aware of any timeout on the Empty Trash Automatically setting.

See this note regarding moving media and keeping metadata:

Keeping the “Empty Trash” turned off while you replace media is a good idea.

It shows what’s not available without losing the history.

Thank you for your quick replies, so I’ll do it that way.

Edit : It works very well
