I’m using the Plex naming convention similar to …
TV Shows
Homeland
Season 01
Homeland - s01e01 - Pilot.ext
Homeland - s01e02 - Grace.ext
Homeland - s01e03 - Clean Skin.ext
Recently I added several seasons of The Closer, and the first four seasons ended up as duplicate shows within my WKRP In Cinncinnati. Here’s one example…
A workaround I discovered is to drop the Season folders from The Closer and move all the videos directly under The Closer. What am I doing wrong here? On another multi-season series (Elementary), Plex spread the videos among 4 different completely unrelated shows. I’m confused. Up to now everything has simply worked as it should.
Answering myself here… I think the problem is in how I’ve identfied the path to Plex. Here’s what that looks like:
I’m thinking that Plex omly sees the folder path content BELOW the path I entered. So when it looks at WKRP and The Closer, all it sees is “Season 01” (for example) and so the confusion begins.
I’m not sure why moving the videos out from under the season folder makes a difference, but this seems related in some way.
ChuckPA nailed it too. I chose individual TV show paths to exclude other shows in the top level path from appearing in Plex. I’m rethinking that since it brought chaos to my libraries and meta. Still, it’s odd that deleting the season folder seemed to have solved the library issue.
Thank you. I’m rearranging my file structure as I type this after confirming what you already knew.
