Plex is mixing two TV shows together

I have two shows on disk, both with the same name but different folders. Knight Rider the original '80s series, as well as Knight Rider the 2008 series. On disk they are in folders named “Knight Rider” and “Knight Rider (2008)”.

Plex is mixing both shows together under the entry of the 2008 series. Each episode is shown in Plex as having two versions, one from each show which is obviously very annoying.

Use 2-digit numbers for your Season folders.

Try adding the year (1982) to the original series folder as well.

Then perform the Plex Dance with both shows.
Only add one show at a time back in.

I’m not sure what difference using 2 digit season folders would make here. but I will give it a try. Unfortunately I don’t think I have an option to change the main series folder name though as it is managed by Sonarr.

I solved this by first adding Knight Rider, the original. Plex misidentified this as the newer Knight Rider 2008. The entry on TheTVDB is just “Knight Rider” not “Knight Rider (1982)” so it seems to me it should have identified it just fine. Anyway as I said I can’t change the name, but once it was in Plex I used the option to correct the identification to the proper show and it rescanned. After that was done I then re-added the newer Knight Rider 2008 which properly identified and got added as a new show.

You can use the split option to fix those items in the Plex library as well
