Mkv container, hevc codec error on aple tv

Greeting plexians ! I stream hi resolution 4k videos from my windows plex server to my apple tv plex client in my bed room. In the technical info i see this kind of an error thing "The application cannot stream direct this element. The video profile for direct streaming http protocol, with MKV container and HEVC codec does not exist. Neverminding the error sign the play back is alright, but i want to be sure i get the best possible quality.

I understand tvOS and iOS dont play well with MKV content especially with unsupported versions of HDR. I could be wrong. So what is it doing actually just transcoding it into a format that can played on the device.

The screenshot shows that the picture is played directly, without any transcoding.

The only thing that is transcoded is the audio. The status message doesn’t say why or what the end format is. I assume it may be due to either high-sampling rate or a reduction of multi-channel to stereo.
You would have to inspect the Plex server log to find out specifics.
