I have a lot on files which are MKV encoded with DTS sound on my server (PLEX LIBRARY) which play fine on my old iPad but on the Apple TV the sound is messed-up i.e. the surrounding background audio plays but the audio/actors talking track does not play.
ps - i do not have DTS??? whatever it is…
DTS doesn’t play well with Apple TV. Your computer will have to transcode the media file to a lower bitrate with ac3. You can use MP4Tools to remove DTS and convert it to a mp4 with ac3 and then your computer will direct play it.

How is your setup connected? Is your appletv connected to a receiver, or your TV? How many speakers do you have?
My guess is you’re connected through a receiver and there’s a setting messed up on it.
I am using MrMC with Plex login to play DTS and DTS-MA working really good now!
