We will be decommissioning our Plex Preview apps for phones and tablets soon and are transitioning to our normal Beta program. The timing of releases between the “Public”, “Beta”, and “Preview” apps might be slightly uneven during the next couple of weeks, since the review pipelines and approvals for each are separate and so might not always be completed at the same time. As we move forward, the release cadence will smooth out, with the expectation that the Beta app will be receiving updates prior to those changing later going out as a Public release.
As mentioned, the “Preview” app will be getting sunset for mobile (phone, tablet) purposes soon (it will continue for tvOS/Apple TV), so we encourage mobile users to stop using that and to instead start using the Beta or public app versions.
We cannot express how much we appreciate all of the feedback we’ve been receiving from out passionate users! Your feedback is invaluable and we love how obvious it is that all of you care so much about Plex and your usage and experience with it. There are always growing pains with a new app release, but we’re dedicated to continuing to release updates with fixes, improvements, and new features—your ongoing feedback (of both the Beta and Public releases) helps us do so.
Our move from the “Preview” to “Beta” program is simply part of the normal release of the new app and this will allow us to continue gathering thoughts and feedback from our passionate users through the Beta apps.

Like with the new experience Preview, the TestFlight for iOS Beta has a maximum number of spots (that’s a limitation Apple imposes). We can’t guarantee that everyone who was in the new experience Preview will be able to join the Beta, but we’ll regularly remove inactive users to free up spots, just like we always have. (Many of you may already be in the Beta, too, in which case you’re already all set.)
Note: The new experience Preview for tvOS remains active and also remains part of our Plex Preview TestFlight. Nothing is changing access-wise for the tvOS Preview at this time.
