Mobile Player Error

They’ll have to fix it for Android, they’ve got to many users to lose, especially on Android TV and other Android powered devices, my issue only came about a couple of PMS beta updates ago, and they thought it was a rebinding issue but not now you pointed that out! Roku working fine here but phone still won’t play certain videos with secure disabled bit tablet works on everything… The plot thickens!

I saw this post and was hoping it was created a day or two ago…

Can’t use my Galaxy Tab A now at all, installing jellyfin for now, hope this gets fixed soon.

@eveasin There is a workaround, a little bit of a weird one, we’ve found that disabling secure connections in the Network side of PMS lets the player on Tablets connect, but not on my smartphone or my friends that connects remotely on WiFi!!
This fix should also allow Android TV and MiBox owners to connect to their servers also… but I’m not entirely sure unless someone tests this??
If this is the case, then here’s hoping they fix this issue ASAP, as I’m not one for using Plex insecureley over Remote for long!!

@mw0dcmplex Thanks for the info. I don’t feel comfortable using an insecure connection. My Android TV also stopped working today, luckily my jellyfin library scan is almost done.

This has been going on for so long now and slowly getting worse for me. Today I found the apk’s from here. I installed the latest version “Plex for Android 8.1.0” This has to be side loaded but it done the trick for me and got everything back up and running for all tablets and phones. Just got to keep them updated manually but at least I have a working system in the house and beyond again.

Not always.

The Google store usually updates quickly, within 24 hours of a release.

The Amazon store does lag, generally by multiple versions, due to Amazon policies. In this case, side loading may be desirable.

As you mention, sideloading forces you to a manual update process. To return to automatic updates, delete the sideloaded version and re-install from the appropriate app store.

I do hope that it was just the actual release that fixed all these issues. But I have seen a number of releases go past now and they have all not fixed the problems. I have yet to do all devices so will wait for the play update and see how that goes.
Thanks for the clarification.
