Are there any plans to bring these to the Fire Tablets?
(Android based but i believe do notifications differently)
It already does that. If you have notifications enabled on your server they just need to enable that setting in their mobile app.
But it doesn’t do that on recently added movies I believe. Or my users are just a bunch of liars ^^
Any of the top 3 Media notifications they should get for servers that have access to. ( assuming you enabled the main setting on your server.)
In notification settings they click on “new content added to library” and from there they need to
- check the top box to enable
- they need to select “all libraries” -or- the individual libraries they care about
Today I activated the notification for “new content added” and it’s been working very well, but that’s the only notification I get. Sometimes randomly I get a message on my phone like “Plex was closed”, something like that and I believe it happens when Plex sends me the other types of notification.
I would like to make a simple request: Instead of showing the picture of the person that added the movie, the app could actually show the movie cover. Please!!!
I’m running Android 8.1.0.
I’m pretty sure that is just a limitation of Android 8. Different manufactures who make customizations to android can change it too. Where we can display the poster we will.
The wording in the message could be tightened up so everything shows up; for example, a show with a long name (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) eats up 99.5% of the first line in the message so it looks like:
New Law & Order: Criminal Intent Episode O…
The “O…” is the start of “On Deck” I think. “New” and “Episode” aren’t needed in the message either (since the episode number and title are in the second line) so switch it around to be:
On deck: Law & Episode: Criminal Intent
S10 E4 – The Last Street in Manhattan
or something along those lines ![]()
Works like a charm for me! All I’d love to see though is another notification option for when something possibly gets removed from the server as well. I haven’t received any of those when I moved around TV shows/episodes for instance while I did get them when I added things.
Slight correction to the above, it’s actually:
New Law & Order: Criminal Intent Episode On SERVERNAME
So how about something similar to other apps:
SERVERNAME
On deck: Law & Episode: Criminal Intent
S10 E4 – The Last Street in Manhattan
What about a notification if a user has severe bufferng problems or a playback failure? And if possible a reason for the failure. If someone in my family has an issue I often don’t hear about it from them. This way I could reach out to them and possibly be ready to offer a reason and solution for their playback issue. Offering us as server owners more methods to help out friends and family with Plex client issues not only helps us but also Plex since the client issues might be effecting the users ability to consume Plex’s new VOD offerings and advertisements.
replying to myself, the Microsoft Your Phone app allows mirroring of notifications, so that’s a decent workaround for when I’m using my Surface and want to see Plex notifications.
