Mobile Request: Youtube like Skip back/forward on left/right thirds of video

I like how on YouTube videos it’s effortless to skip forward and backward by just tapping directly on either the left or righthand side of the video, instead of having to tap to pull the controls up and then find the button to do so. This would significantly improve UX.

Thanks!

In the web app, you can scrub very quickly with your mouse by clicking on the progress bar.

And if you have the video preview thumbnails activated, you will get a preview as well.

For the mobile app.

I can’t speak about the iOS app, but on Android it works the same. If you swipe your finger over the progress bar, you can easily get to the part of the video you want.

Yes, I understand how the scrubber works. My request is to add additional functionality by adding similar function as YouTube, by being able to tap on the left or ride side of the video to skip, instead of having to tap the video to have the scrubber come up, then either move the scrubber bar, or tap the skip buttons located at the bottom of the screen.

It makes it far easier to quickly skip forward or back when the device is docked, or being held by both hands, than having to reach down and perform 1 - 2 additional steps in an awkward position- which makes for better UX.

I agree. Would love this feature as I find myself double tapping my screen constantly, just to have it zoom in or out instead of fast forwarding through the introtune

For those who didn’t know this feature existed in the youtube app: https://youtu.be/zLWD4EtWHZ4

I believe similar functionality is also in the Netflix app.

+1 This is exactly what I came to suggest - glad others find that function as useful/convenient as I do. Can’t tell you how many times I end up zooming in on my plex streams because I’ve double tapped to skip!

I came to the Plex Forums to specifically request this feature. It’s a great feature I use on YouTube constantly. Would love to see this implemented for iOS iPad especially.

Just saw that the Android app was updated to include:

Gesture Seeking: Double tap the left or right side of the video to seek backwards or forwards quickly.

When will this be included for iOS?

More than a year later, and any progress?
