Money no object set-top box

I’m building a new media room and want to use the best Plex media set-top box or video player.

What’s the best quality… money no object?

I have the Nvidia shield which is fine however there are sometimes lip sync issues.

Just wondered if anybody has developed a high-end android set-top box.

Or is there a high-end 4K Blu-ray player that has a Plex app?

If you were building a high-end home cinema what would you use?

You already have the best boy in town…

Lip sync issues can be often corrected on one of the device in the chain, e.g. AVR or even the Shield itself.

I never had lip sync issues on my Shield.

Your problem seems to be the original content quality and not the hardware. Out of sync content is regularly found in questionable downloads. Your solution is better understanding of selection of known sources.

No my source material is fine…

I’ve got over 1500 DVDs , Blu-rays and 4K Blu-rays ripped to my nas.

Playback is fine on a PC or my Roku streaming stick in the kitchen.

In fact the Nvidia Shield lip sync problem is a known issue.

I was just looking for an alternative…

I’m now thinking maybe a dedicated PC or, HTPC might be the way to go?

Roku Ultra.

What it lacks in ‘Playing Everything The Shield Can’ - it more than makes up for in ‘The Best Dam Plex App EVER MADE!’. <—Once you go Plex App on Roku <— you never go back. <— no matter what you have to do.

Did you even read the thread and especially the last reply? I doesn’t support your theory but that of @SE56, in terms that it is “the files fault”.

I’m interested in seeing a ‘MediaInfo’ report on that media.

We can compare cucumbers all day, but let’s make a salad and see whatzup.

lol

(if you don’t have that already - you may not know everything there is to know about encoding)
The Punch Line is - I have it and I don’t - so chances are you don’t either…lol)
