Here is another tale of woe regarding the yum based Repos. I don’t know about everyone else, but I got an e-mail today from Plex warning of the doom and gloom that will happen to my Live TV and DVR in 10 days if I don’t upgrade to 1.16.1.
No problem, I say. I SSH into the server, do a “yum update”, but of course 1.16.1 isn’t what’s offered, it’s 1.15.6.
(facepalm)
When will 1.16.1 be released on the repos? Why would Plex blast out an e-mail scaring everyone to upgrade without the distribution channel being ready?
Plex Pass users can go to the Web Site and download 1.16.1.
The Repo holds public release.
DVR / Live-TV , which needs the EPG, is a Plex Pass feature. – Not needed in Public yet because it requires a Plex Pass to use it.
To use the feature doesn’t require require login credentials but it is gated by a Plex Pass which is login credentialed.
I don’t know why they are doing it but Engineering decided to do it this way. They appear to be running it through the normal Alpha - Beta (Plex Pass) - Public mechanism.
