I have a need to record more than 4 tv channels at the same time. Right now PLEX server only handles 4 tuners. Is there a way to join two PLEX servers together or to add more tuners to accomplish my goal? I need to record at least 8 to 12 channels at the same time to a common library. I have one plex pass login currently.
Plex is not limited to 4 tuners.
I have tried 6 tuners (WinTV dualHD usb) and can only get 4 tuners (2 units) to be recognized by PLEX. Is there something that I am missing? Or test or check or…?
Hmm. I have had 2 winhd dual usb tuners and a quad home run all working and showing up. I didn’t do anything special, they just all appeared. Could it be a Windows / driver issue?
Could be a Windows update issue.
It appears the USB port - endpoint issue may be the cause. I moved the unit to a different USB port and it looks like I now have 6 tuners. I will be getting more info on the onboard USB controllers for this motherboard. Thanks for your help!
Now have 8 tuners working! However, When my server was notified (not updated) just notified that there was an update ready for download ALL 8 tuners were disconnected from the plex server. [1.21.1.3830]
I review the “Live TV and DVR” under settings and all 4 WinTV dualHD units not recognize.
I downloaded the update and installed and still found the tuners off line.
I was required to dead start the computer to restore the tuners to active.
In the passed I have had to restart the computer every time I was notified of a new version of the PLEX Server software. Anyone know what is being pushed to the computer that would cause such actions?
