We’ve been using Plex Media Server for a long time and are ready to cut the cord to our cable company and go OTA/Streaming. Our current DVR (TiVo) has 6 tuners and on occasion, that’s not enough.
How many tuners can Plex Live TV & DVR use at the same time? According to SiliconDust, their HDHomeRun app allows “any number of HDHomeRun Tuners from which you may record to your choice of supported local storage.”
Theoretically as many devices as you want to add. I have had 5 OTA HDHR devices configured at one point on one of my servers. Each device contained 2 tuners so I had 10 available tuners. I now have 2 devices configured on two different servers so 4 tuners on each server. I retired one of my old original HDHR devices.
Thanks, Plex Ninja. I just ordered an OTA antenna today that I’ll connect to one of our TVs to see if we get the stations the FCC says we should at our location. Then I’ll probably get a CONNECT QUATRO® and make sure things are running smoothly. If all is copacetic, we’ll get a second one.
