Most recent update

Not sure if this is the correct category, but I have been trying the Plex for HTPC and the most recent update, screwed with my Bluetooth keyboard (Logitech K400+) I can press a key, then wait a couple of seconds, then try again. The latency is terrible.
Is there a way to roll back? It worked well until this most recent update…

Just download your desired version here => Plex HTPC for Mac, Windows, and Linux

Can you share your logs? On my system, I can not reproduce it with the new 1.15.

Before downgrading, I’d try to change
Settings - Video - Video Playback Quality

Toggle “Use Hardware Decoding” as well.

Sorry, I downgraded yesterday and everything has been fine since, so logs won’t be much help.
When I have more time I will upgrade to 1.151 (whatever) and see what happens. I will have some logs then and will send them if there is still an issue.
Sorry, and thanks for your help-

I had a similar problem after updating a few days ago. The interface appeared incredibly laggy after the upgrade, taking ages to react to keystrokes, and it took me a while to notice that navigation was the problem. Browsing through the app could take a while (with every stroke taking several seconds to complete), but once I started something, the video would play normally, and the player responded to shortcuts without delay, allowing me to seek and pause instantly. I spent several hours watching a few episodes and everything seemed fine, but the problem returns after exiting playback. I tried disabling the Discover results and ticking the ‘Disable Motion’ setting but the lag persisted, and I have hardware decoding off by default, so I was out of moves. I have two keyboards on my machine, one wired via PS/2 and another wireless (2.4 GHz RF), and both experienced this behavior. Sadly, I ended up rolling back to 1.14.1 before thinking to open the forums, and I surmise any useful logs would be lost after uninstalling; but I’m sharing my experience just in case it proves useful.

Same experience here. I will add that I also have an old MCE IR remote and the navigation is multiple seconds for each button push on it as well. Again as AdrFax described, once in a video the response time is back to normal until you exit play back.

I would be willing to share my logs but you would have to explain where I would get them…

Trouble with reverting to an earlier version is that the app auto updates

I have a black screen for a few seconds after exit with the new version and also the laggy keyboard action with a K400+

Have tried updating GPU drivers, disabling hw acceleration, refresh matching, display and video quality. Also tried a new HDMI cable. All without luck.

Already tried that and next start it updates.

I’ve reverted back to PMP but thanks

The log from my machine is attached.
I loaded it up and navigated around and then pulled the log file.
If you need me to do something specific, let me know.
Plex HTPC.log (110.7 KB)

Your log looks clean, nothing obvious. The only thing I noticed is your GPU. It is quite old. I don´t know if this is the culprit. The Plex HTPC gui is hw accelerated maybe the gpu is too slow to render it at 1920x1080 smoothly. Was it ever smooth? Maybe try lowering the gui render resolution to 1280x720.

Prior to this last release it performed very well. I was quite happy with the performance prior to this.
I did turn off the hardware acceleration option in this version and it didn’t make any difference.
The hardware is pretty old but since it was performing well previously, I don’t think that is the problem.

So I don’t know what I’m looking at specifically but it seems like you can see the delay in the log.
For example:

Is the Refreshing hub Watch Together the response to the “back” input manager action?
Notice the 3.3 second delay…that’s about what I’m seeing for response time although I think it does very some…

Has 1.16.0 fixed the response time problems for anyone?

I’ve tried 1.16 and 1.17 and they both have the bad input delay problems.
Can anyone give me pointers in trouble shooting the source of this problem?

Just for grins I tried version 1.21. It’s still not right but I do think something has changed.
With the previous version it was a long time before I heard the click from the remote. With 1.21 I hear the click immediately. It just takes a long time for the UI to update. And as with the previous versions, once you get into a video, the response times are good and work “normally”.
