Most videos will not stream to Roku

PMS running on Shield TV.
Plex client on Roku TV
Many movies will not stream, screen gets stuck on 33%. They usually have MP3 Stereo (or AC3 stereo - I think)
Subtitles will not work
Trailers will not work
Plex client on Shield TV works for everything except subtitles.

In my desperate troubleshooting I just did a 100% reload that did not fix the problem. I did a factory reset of ShieldTV and then updated PMS to latest version. I’m amazed this did not fix it.

Server Version#: 1.32.1.7510
Player Version#: version 7.7 build 2 (Roku app)

It could be related to the hardware transcoding bug. The streams play with direct stream on the Shield client, but are transcoded for the Roku.
You can see what is happening with the stream on the web dashboard (or the PlexDash app)…

Try turning off hardware encoding on the web config page and try again. If this fixes the issue, it’s a known problem and it is being worked on…

You are correct. Changing that setting fixed the problem. Hopefully this won’t cause performance problems by not using the HW for video encoding.
