I have a perfectly (!) functionning Plex Media Server on a Lifetime Plex Pass hosted on an Ubuntu VM in my network. The content ironically comes from a QNAP NAS server mounted by NFS.
I would like to move the media server to the NAS proper and have direct access to the content take the load off my VM server.
However, despite what I’ve read, there is no place I find to be able to add a new server. The second I started Plex on QNAP, it asked me to login and then I just see the content of the Ubuntu Server.
How can I make Plex use 2 servers. I want to make sure the new install on QNAP works and then I can shut down the Ubuntu version. I don’t mind restarting the libraries from scratch, but it would be nice to be able to move the meta data.
As a point of reference, I previously moved the server from a CentOS VM to the Ubuntu one, and I got help simply moving the proper directories to overwrite the Ubuntu. It just worked. But I did not create 2 servers.
Other point, during the bad old days of CentOS, Plex would often fail and I would be forced to readd it in my clients and I would effectively have 2 server on the client.
Lastly I could have 2 Servers - One for internal with all the content and another externally accessible with selected content.
Any advice?
