Plex Server and Movies on Different Computer

Hello,

I am in the process of setting up a new Plex Server computer as my QNAP was struggling a bit with transcoding. Now, I would like to know if I have to move all my movies/TV Shows to the new Server or if my Plex Server can read files from a different server but on the same Network?

I am trying to keep my files on my QNAP since I have plenty of room and setup as RAID5 instead of buying another few drives for the new server… cheaper for me and easier to manage.

You can leave the files on the QNAP and use NFS to access the files from your new server.

Awesome, I will try that. Saving time, money and simplicity by not having to duplicate files on my Plex machine. I am running 1Gb through the house and QNAP as 2x 1Gb … it should not be a problem to stream through my LAN hopefully.
