Move Library with no Rescan - possible?

Hey everyone

I have duplicated my Movie and TV Show folders on my PC - and would like Plex to look at the new locations for the Libraries, but not have to rescan and re-download metadata again.

The folder structure is identical except for the main folder name:

Old Structure
home/media/plex/movies
home/media/plex/tv

New Structure
home/media/plex5/movies
home/media/plex5/tv

Is it possible to change existing libraries in Plex to look at the new locations, without having to rescan and re-download metadata?

  1. Turn off “Empty Trash after every library scan”
  2. Add the new location to one library (do movies first)
  3. Scan files.
  4. Observe the posters now show 2 (depicting two copies are found)
  5. Verify all copes found.
  6. Edit the library section again and remove the old location.
  7. Scan files again.
  8. Observe 2 being removed
  9. Empty Trash manually
  10. Clean Bundles
  11. Optimze Database

Repeat for Television library

  1. Turn “Empty Trash” back on.
