I had to move a bunch of movie files from one drive to another. This made plex see those files as recently added. Is there a way to prevent this?
What I have done in the past is edit the library to add the new path and let it scan for media. If it already exists, then you will just have multiple versions. Once its done just edit the library again and delete the original location.

Yes, he is correct; just edit the path and let it scan and you’ll be good to go. Just double check and ensure that your paths are set (one typo) stuff disappears and it’s a bad day 
The Plex Knowledge Base article I posted states to do what both of you have said, and includes even more instruction to help prevent loss of the data while doing it. (regarding Empty trash)
