I moved my server to a new machine. Now I think everything is working properly, except when watching previously recorded OTA TV shows, I no longer get offered the button to skip commercials.
Is there a setting I need to activate? Is there something I needed to do to copy those markers over? Alternatively, can I get Plex to scan my library, or does it only scan the shows right after recording?
Thanks,
Mike
Go into the settings for the library where your recordings are stored, and then select “Advanced” on the left. Scroll down to the bottom of the available advanced settings and change “Ad Detection” to “For all items”. This will cause Plex Server to generate commercial markers during the maintenace window.
That makes sense. Thank you. One question. I have my DVR shows in a different folder from my shows ripped from physical media, but one large Library for shows that uses both sets of folders. If I make a dedicated library with just the dvr folders and mark them for ad-skip, 1) will those ad markers show up and be useable in the other library, and 2) when it is done rescanning and I remove the dvr library, will the ad-skip markers stay in place?
I just did a test where I created a library pointing to the same folder location as my DVR library, and then compared the XML for episodes (“Get Info” then “View XML”). For episodes that already had commercial markers in my DVR library, it did not carry forward the commercial markers to the “new” library. Based on this test the commercial markers appear to be library specific.
