Movie and TV Show in same library section

Hi - I have searched through trying to find an answer to this as I thought I had read it somewhere -but to no avail… I have created a library section in the PMS called Stand-Up - which is for surprise surprise stand up comedy - I added 2 sources for it - 1 containing TV show information (Live at the Apollo) and a seperate folder with DVD’s that appear on IMDB - for example Lee Mack:Live, Peter Kay Live … I thought since I was adding 2 seperate sources 1 from a TV source and one from a movie source that they would end up amalgamated in the library section but it still seems as if I have to choose either TV source or Movie source for both folders … is that right??

I was thinking the same way as I found out that the TV SHOW section doesn´t read dvd´s



issue is that I have complete tv shows on my hdd and i though great plex will read them… this is not the case…



when I add this folder (tv shows in DVD FORMAT) plex is reading every dvd as 1 eps…



please help me find the answer as well.

I use MediaBrowser in Media Center on my main screen. So I'm not about to rearrange my library to accommodate Plex. I would love for Plex to consume the MyMovies/Mediabrowser metadata XML I already have and properly handle the mixed collections. I have a folder for my kids with movies and TV and only TV shows in it at the moment.

Assuming renaming and transcoding aren’t options, you’re pretty much left with creating your own custom scanner as the only way to get your content in Plex’s library. Reading an xml file should be doable but it’d be quite different from any of Plex’s other scanners, creating multiple entries from a single file. I’d strongly recommend transcoding dvds to individual files. You’ll end up with the same quality with 1/4 of the size. But of course everyone has their own preferences.
