Movie associated but not showing cover

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156 (on synology nas)

Good evening, I noticed that Plex isn’t loading the correct poster for some movies.
I checked my movie library settings and set the agent to “Plex Movie.”

If i try to select “fix association” it show me the correct movie but no show cover for it. It is so strange because is a famous movie “Once upon a time” and i checked on imdb and tmdb and both have cover.

Why it no show me cover?

I also try to update metadata…

Plex Docs → Your Media → Local Media Assets - Movies

Plex had to remove some movie posters due to DMCA take down requests from the rights owners.

A quick way to find out is check on watch.plex.tv. If a poster does not exist, then it was removed due to a DMCA request. Once Upon a Time in the West is one such movie: https://watch.plex.tv/movie/once-upon-a-time-in-the-west.

You can add your own poster if desired. See documentation linked above.

Example:

/movies
.../movie_name (year)
....../movie_name (year).mkv
....../movie_name (year).jpg

Thanks for you explanation!

I tried to put a cover inside his folder, near the .mkv file. I called it “poster.jpg” as the guide explain. Alstro try rename it movie_name (year).jpg.

Then on plex tried to analyze, updata metadata, redo association….nothing change.

What should I try?

Edit the movie and manually pick the poster.

Ok this way, going to “Choose an image” and browsing manually to pick up, works.

In order for Plex to pick up your local posters, make sure the image file is named exactly the same as your Movie file, except for the file extension of course.

Also, make sure you edit your Movie library and on the Advanced tab, enable Prefer artwork based on library language, Use local assets and Prefer local metadata.

In Plex Settings > Server > Agents (Legacy) make sure you enable Local Media Assets (Movies) and drag it to the top of the list for all media types (Personal Media, Plex Movie (legacy), The Movie Database).

Plex should then pick up and use any posters when you Refresh Metadata after adding the poster file to your Library/Movie folder.
