My movie collections are empty, yet again. I’ve had this problem before. A long time ago… I originally had my setup on Windows. Now I’m using a Raspberry Pi and am having the same issue. I set up movie collections (like James Bond, Star Trek, etc…). Then at some point I go back and notice they are all empty.
The movies are still there in my library and accessible. But the collection tag is gone on each of them. It’s frustrating to say the least. Any one have an idea how to fix this, or are collections just a lost cause even after all these years of it still being a problem?

Sounds like your server is configured to automatically scan for updates and emptying the trash after every scan. If your media drive is not connected during such a scan, it’ll drop all items from your library – leaving empty shells for your collections.
Once your media drive is back up during the next scan the media is re-added but no longer have their collection tags.
If that situation keeps popping up you might want to disable the option to automatically empty the trash after every scan. Settings > [Server Name] > Library > Empty trash automatically after every scan
Thanks Tom! I do have that setting on. It’s off now and I’ll see how well that works. My drive does disconnect at times so that could be what it’s doing.
