I searched around and couldn’t seem to find an answer anywhere, but I just started organizing my movies in to collections and after running the automatic scanner and then doing some manual edits, I ended up with empty collections. I cant seem to find a way to remove them so they don’t appear in the movies list any longer. Has anyone ran into this or can point me in the right direction? Thanks!
that’s how it’s designed.
once you created a collection and remove the collection tag from all respective movies, the collection will be empty (0 items), but it’s still there as an own object in the Plex database with its own posters, description etc.
You can go via the context menu of this collection and delete it.
If there’s no such option, check out Settings > Server > Library
and check Allow media deletion
– keep in mind with this option you will also be able to delete actual content from your server, hence I recommend to uncheck the box afterwards!
As for “How inline collections work” – please refer to this post in the tips & tricks section of the forum (there’s even a whole section on why there’s 0-item collections and how to delete them!):
Awesome yeah thanks a bunch!
This is just what I was looking for.
Having emptied a lot of collections that I never created.
I don’t like that every movie sequel has its collection. A trilogy sure, but not a sequel.
