I just moved my media server to a new computer. Now one of my movies no longer matches. It was a TV miniseries, but shows up on imdb and matched correctly on my last machine. I’m looking for IT - https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/19614-it?language=en-US
It gives it to me as a match option, but no metadata gets loaded. Any ideas?
How do you have the files named? Also, they should be in a TV Show library.
Plex matches against TheTVDB.com for TV shows. You should match their naming, episode numbering, etc. Also, the episode names will match what is in their database (Part 1 & Part 2 for It). https://www.thetvdb.com/series/it/seasons/1
Thanks, yeah I have the other stephen king tv miniseries files in a “tv” folder, but IT always worked using themoviedb so I was able to keep it in the movie library. Even in the link below it shows up. I’m just curious why it worked fine before, but after installing
the server on a new machine and rebuilding the library it no longer recognizes it. The weirdest part is that it comes up with a match, but the match has blank data. I was hoping to use the trick of selecting the number from the URL to search on, but as you
pointed out, since it was a TV movie the link on themoviedb isn’t just a number.
Look again at your own TMDB link.
Even there it is classified as tv show. And therefore you must use a tv show library for it.
TMDB has updated its policies last year, regarding mini series. Whereas before it was OK to add mini series as ‘movies’, it now is only allowed to add as ‘tv show’.
Thanks. Guess I’ll just enter it manually using the data from tmdb. I have my other miniseries in the TV folder, but this movie is a single file and in my mind doesn’t make sense in the TV folder. Guess it pulled the metadata from before the change since it
worked on my old server. Thanks for the feedback
