Movie Library Not displaying

Server Version#: 1.31.2.6739

Player Versions#:

  • WINDOWS – 1.64.2.3546-5107ec40 [does not display movie library]
  • ANDROID TV – 9.16.2.38798 [does not display movie library]
  • PIXEL-- 9.16.2.38798 [working and displaying properly]
  • WEB VIEW – [working and displaying properly]

HOME SCREEN VIEW to show all pinned libraries.

  1. None of my configurations have changed for the library in question.
  2. The library displays properly on web browsers and pixel device.
3 does not display the movie library on Windows or Android TV
–However the “Oscar Nods” are displaying.

Does the missing library appear in the side bar, when you switch it into the “MORE…” mode?

Are you certain that all apps are logged into the same plex.tv user account?

All accounts are the same on my devices.
yes the library is pinned to the sidebar.

So what does it mean when you say the “library is not displaying”?

When you are on the HOME screen, the Recently Added section does not display on AndroidTV and Windows appstore vs.

If I look at it on my phone, or the web, the Recently added is there.

Does it remain there after you sign out and back in to your user account on those devices?

Initially I was using the Plex exe from the plex website,
When the new version was release, I updated to that… the problem persisted.
I uninstalled it and downloaded the package from the windows app store… again still the same issue.
I logged out, and back in. Same issue.

I meant do this on those apps which are seemingly working.

The pixel app, and the browser are still displaying all the library rows on the home page properly.

I found the issue…
Too many pinned libraries

removing two pinned libraries resolved the issue.

Try this on the Windows app:
Settings - Plex for Windows - General - Reset Customizations

If that doesn’t change anything
Settings - Plex for Windows - ‘Show Advanced’ - Debug - “Restore Defaults”

How many were there in total?

there were 14, split between movies & tv

(I do not use music or photo)

14 isn’t in any way excessive.

Is it possible that you have “Merge Recently Added” activated, but you have libraries which use different metadata agents (some new, some old)?

I use less pinned libraries on my phone and web browser than I do for the TV at home
that is when I tried more pinned libraries on my phone and noticed the HOME row disappear
when I removed them again the row re-appeared, so I did the same on the tv and it resolved the issue.

Excessive… Not to someone with OCD

I’d still perform a “Low-Level Database Recovery” https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/ to try and catch potential issues with damaged index tables etc.

If your media collection is very big and your server is equipped for it, try raising the “Database Cache Size” in increments of 20 MB and see if it makes a difference in response times.
(If it doesn’t, revert the change!) Settings - Server - ‘Show Advanced’ - Library

Thanks for the help! :+1:
